At Viaggio Restaurant we’re continuing our series of exceptional summer wine pairing dinners as we take you on A Journey Through Italy!

Executive Chef Rodney Uyehara has once again created a delicious five course wine-paired menu in collaboration with wine aficionados Mark Milton and Andrew Pfeffer. On August 22 at 6pm, the journey begins as this talented trio take diners on a tantalizing journey through various beautiful regions of Italy.

Viaggio Restaurant General Manager, Gregg Fraser said, “We are delighted to welcome Mark and Andrew back to Viaggio Restaurant to share in their passion for seven carefully selected and outstanding Italian wines.” He added, “Paired with five delicious Italian-inspired dishes, these three white wines and four red wines are sure to please the most discerning diners.”

Limited to sixty guests, this one-night-only wine pairing, five-course dinner will feature delicacies such as Calamari Fritti paired with Ferrari Rose Pinot Nero Chardonnay and Bottega Vinaia Pinot Grigio, from the Trentino region in Italy’s mountainous north-east.

Next we set sail for the Mediterranean island of Sicily where Chef Uyehara’s Vongnole Fusa al Vapore is paired beautifully with a Mandarossa Fiano Chardonnay.

Staying in the Med, our final seafood delicacy, Polpi in Umido, is paired with Sardinia’s best-known wine variety, Cannonau, this time from the vineyards of Sella & Mosca.

The menu now shifts back to Italy’s most prestigious wine region, Tuscany, where Chef Uyehara’s Osso Bucco will be paired perfectly with Col d’Orca Rosso di Montalcino and Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico Riserva.

In this fifth of Viaggio’s summer wine pairing dinners, the Gran Finale visits Italy’s north-east, just a stone’s throw from Venice, with the much-loved, smooth Chocolate Torta expertly paired with Bertani Amarone Classico 2007.
