The Food Gurus Hawaii | Restaurant & Food Brand Marketing Index saw 2024’s downward cascading guest counts widen in September making it the worst performing month [overall guest count, tips & seasonally adjusted] so far this year.

The measure of 282 Oahu & Big Island Restaurants daily visits [sans Maui for clearer economic pic] shows the ongoing challenge of Hawaii households struggling with high occupancy costs cutting back on restaurant/grocery visits and spend per visit. Hoping to see consumer spending rekindled by the recent Fed interest rate drop, the new 14k households eligible for food stamps and the ongoing robust construction industry.
