Like many of Oahu’s restaurants, NALU HEALTH BAR has been closed for business since late March 2020 when Governor Ige issued his stay-at-home orders. Rather than remain open for takeout as the pandemic was in full swing, NALU owners decided to close their doors in order to properly prepare to reopen safely and to spend extra time putting the final touches on their newest project, the opening of a new restaurant in Haleiwa.

Now that Hawai‘i is opening up businesses more and more, the owners of NALU are joining their restaurant industry peers in reopening for takeout and delivery service, as well as in-house dining on June 5, with new safety measures in place.

“We felt like now that the curve has been flattened a good deal, and we’ve had time to implement the proper procedures to keep our customers and staff safe, it’s time to bring our fresh, healthy meals back to the communities that we serve,” NALU co-owner Chris Pfisterer said.

“We’ve always practiced very high sanitation standards, so upgrading those to meet coronavirus standards was easy for us. Now we are focused on creating a customer experience that keeps everyone happy, while also following all of the guidelines recommended by the WHO and the Hawaii State Department of Health,” Pfisterer continued.

Regular customers of NALU HEALTH BAR will now have the option of ordering their favorite wraps, sandwiches, salads, and NALU HEALTH BAR’s signature item, their açaí bowls, for take-out and delivery. Delivery will be available through DoorDash and BiteSquad. For take-out options, while NALU will not turn away anyone who walks in to order, they highly prefer that customers place their order ahead of time by calling their order in: (808) 263-6258 (Kailua) or (808) 597-8871 (South Shore Market). Online ordering for take-out will also be coming soon — keep an eye on the NALU website for more information. See individual links for delivery ordering options below. Hours of operation at all locations are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both stores will reopen for dine-in on June 5, following all safety precautions laid out for restaurants.

“We are so excited to be able to reopen our doors and reconnect with the Kailua and Ward area communities. Being able to interact with our guests and feed them our delicious, healthy, authentic food with recipes that represent both Hawaii and South America, where all four of NALU’s owners are from, is something we have missed dearly. We just can’t wait to see our staff and customers again,” Pfisterer said.New North Shore Location

In addition to the reopening of their established stores, NALU HEALTH BAR will be opening its third location on Friday, May 29. The Haleiwa location will open for take-out and dine-in at (808) 840-0153, as there are no current delivery options available in the area.

“Having a location in Haleiwa has always been a dream for us. As surfers and nature lovers, we absolutely love the North Shore area, and it’s definitely one of our favorite places on the island. We’re beyond excited to get to meet and engage with the new community and offer them our healthy options and authentic acai bowls,” Pfisterer said.
 ###About NALU HEALTH BAR

The original Kailua location of NALU HEALTH BAR opened in 2015 when four friends from South America began to envision a restaurant where they could enjoy the healthy foods that they loved when they finished surfing. The restaurant, which serves fresh sandwiches, salads, wraps, and authentic Brazilian açaí, sources its fresh produce from local vendors when possible and always sources its fresh fish from local fishermen. Since opening the original Kailua location, the restaurant has expanded to include a location at the South Shore Market and a new location in Haleiwa, opening late May 2020.
